High gain silver rod?

is it true you can put wooden rods inside it to make it stronger in the wind

Wooden rods inside the rod should make no difference to the RF since the Radio waves are mostlyl traveling on the surface of the silver rod.  This is called Skin Effect.  As long as the wood remains dry and does not contact anything except the siver rod, it will only make the rod stronger in the wind, but also heavier for the mounting system.

i have heard you can put bamboo sticks inside your rod, now if you do check the SWR i see no harm in it if the SWR is down and you still get out and receive ok
