High or low pressure?

Question about wind patterns.

*Would there ba a high or low pressure region at 30 degrees North and South?

Also what about at 60 degrees North and South latitudes?

  1. The planet rotates clockwise, so the wind moves West to East, therefore large masses of air move usually West to Est.  Intuitively it should move more at the Equator than at the poles, maybe that is why there are more fine days close to the Equator.  The air also moves due to a temperature gradient, light warm air from the Equator rises and is replaced by heavy cold air from the poles.  Where you have higher volumes of air than usual you have high pressure, with good weather (the high volume of air pushes everything away, including clouds) and viceversa: low pressure usually means rain.  But weather depends on the water cycle as well, not just on the air pressure, giving a complex weather pattern.


  2. 30 degrees north and south: high pressure

    60 degrees north and south: low pressure
