High pitched whine coming from XM home kit.?

I have an XM stereo home kit. The Roadyxt home kit. I plugged everything in and it workds great. However there is one problem.

There is a very high pitched whine coming from what seems to be the power adapter. I know its not the speakers, I turned off my receiver and the noise still continued.

I turned everything off except the home kit. When the XM unit is off, there no noise. When I turn it on the high pitched whine is very annoying. When I switch through the menu color options, the noise changes in pitch but is still loud and annoying.

After I turn off the XM unit the whine becomes less audible for about 8 seconds then there is no whine at all.

PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. See about getting a new power supply.

here's the deal, a power supply is a winding of wires around plates, these plates are epoxied together. Sounds like yours are not. the whine is a noise like you might hear from a fluorescent light fixture. the plates vibrate at a high speed causing the whine. when you turn off XM the load on the adapter goes to 0 and the plates settle down.. If it is new exchange it...
