High-profile match against Pune prompts KKR management to issue media gag order – Cricket News Update
The much-hyped clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, scheduled for May 5 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, has prompted the Knight Riders’ team management to issue a media gag order, forbidding players from media interaction.
“We have some rules and regulations that we are following,” confirmed KKR all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492.
In addition to the ban on media at a recent promotional party held at the team’s hotel, an official from a PR firm hired by the team also confirmed that the management has stopped responding to requests for interviews, saying players were unavailable.
The match approaches amid a media frenzy, largely owing to the fact that city idol http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 recently expressed the hope that the crowd at Eden Gardens would support their home team, despite
the presence of Ganguly in the opposing camp. He also attempted to downplay the frenzy, saying that it was a match between two teams, and not against a single individual.
However, the game is being touted as Ganguly’s revenge match against his former team. After being associated with the Knight Riders for three years (and serving as captain in the 2008 and 2010 editions), the cricketer was ignored during the 2011 auction.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 served as captain during the 2009 season, and afterwards Gambhir took over the reins. The current 5th season of the IPL saw Ganguly making a return to the tournament, but under the banner of the Pune Warriors.
The encounter sees the home team in a superior position in terms of performance. The Knight Riders currently occupy the second position on the points table, after having won 6 of the 10 matches they’ve played, with 13 points to their credit. They have also
won all four of the last matches they have played (with the game against the Deccan Chargers on April 24 having been abandoned due to rain).
The Pune Warriors, however, are at number 8 on the points table, second from the bottom, having emerged victorious in only 4 out of 10 matches (with 8 points).
