  1. In the cage, you should generally be working 5-10 mph faster than the power pitchers in whatever league you play in.  At that speed (in the cage) you should be hitting 95% or better.  (Everybody misses a few now and then.)  I say, 'in the cage', because those balls present in roughly the same area every time.  A 10 mph hour difference, assuming reasonable form and a hitter's eye, shouldn't be that much of an adjustment.  (It's a timing thing.)

What you may not have considered, is pitchers at the high school level aren't trying to pitch to you.    They will be throwing high speed, off speed, and breaking pitches.  This adds a considerable level of difficulty to the task at hand.

I don't want to dash your hopes but as general rule, of all high school players in American less than 1% will play college ball.  Of those that play college ball, less 1% will play (minor league) pro ball.  Of those in the minors less than 1% will play major league ball.  (Actually in some of these examples, the percentage is WAY less than 1%.)

You never know what can happen though. Keep up the hard work and maybe you'll make it.  In the mean time, enjoy the journey: Any day you get to play baseball is a good day.

  2. If you are already a DH that means you aren't even one of the best players on your school team. So that makes it unlikely that you will develop into one of the tiny fraction of players that make it to Triple A or the tiny percentage of those who make it to the Major Leagues.

  3. 60MPH!  come on u need to be able to hit atleast 75-80 if u want to even dream about the bigs. And a DH thats just an excuse for having a bad glove
