Question:

High school football safety position?

ok, I'm going to be a junior in High school.. and i have played mostly DE, but since I'm moving up to the varsity level, i don't weigh enough to play that. right now i weigh 150, 6 foot, 270 squat 200 bench 4.9 40..... do you guys think i would be able to play safety?

  1. yeah if you have great vision on the field.


  2. if you got speed and good reading skills, then heck yeah. plus its also fun to play free saftey because you get alot of interceptions, and if someone catches the ball and you get going, you can lay some people out, and thats always fun. just run full blast towards them and nail em. yeah buddy.

  4. you might just drop back to a Linebacker position which is a lot like the DE, but you don't have a blocker in your face and insted of pass rush you pass cover.

  5. I played linebacker my senior year of highschool. I'm 6 ft, 175, 350 squat, 225 bench and I ran a 4.7. Your stats are close to mine, although if your highschool was anything like mine, the coach will find a place for you. Sounds like weak side linebacker is your best bet though.

  6. I would say that safety would be an option if you could get a little faster. You def need to hit the weights hard if you want to play LB. You cant fight off a 250-300 pound olineman weighing only 150.
