I am starting my freshman year and that means that all the other middle school are going to come to the high school. im in the same county as with my friends. Well my 2 closest friends are gone. 1 went back to her old home not far, but we still see and talk to eachother. The other one is a grade behind me so she would be in 8th while i in ninth. For me its hard to make new friends, and im more on the skiddish or shyness side. I wanna know what I can do for lunch. I want to sit by myself, but I don't wanna lookv desperate. If u can help or give me tips to open up.......

  1. Dude this question made me want to cry. Not because it's so pathetic or anything but because I'm a super shy person myself and I remember being in that same position. My freshman year I moved to a new school and didn't know anyone but my sister who was a Junior and didn't have my same lunch. The good thing I found about being a freshman is that it is the grade with the most kids in your same position because so many of them are new and looking to make friends. Try to find some nice girl in one of your classes before lunch who looks shy and new (trust me there will be at least one!) Get to know her a little and then invite her to sit with you at lunch. She'll appreciate the gesture and it'll make life easier on both of you. Better yet try to find a few kids like that. You'll be a lifesaver to them and help yourself out at the same time. Good luck!

  2. I went to a school in a new town when I started high school so I knew no one. I had drama before lunch and we had to do partner stuff so I just asked the girl I was partnered with if I could have lunch with her. Just try your best to be out going but not in an annoying way.

  3. I'm not sure what you're asking.  You want to sit by yourself?  Then sit by yourself.  If someone sits down, don't look at them or speak.  Just focus on your lunch.  Pretty soon, they'll get the idea and leave you alone.  I'm going to guess that with your friend in the 8th and you in the ninth, you won't have the same lunch period.

On the other hand, if you do want to make friends in your grade at lunch, go ahead and sit by yourself if you want, but smile at people who walk by, and if someone sits down, smile and say hi, and introduce yourself.  Ask them about themselves, so they get to do all the talking.  People like that.  Or, make a friend in a class and ask their advice on where to sit at lunch, who to sit with and who to avoid.

Tell you what -- I'm basically a shy person myself.  But I get through things by playing a role.  In my mind, it's not really me saying hi and asking a question, introducing myself, whatever -- I'm an actress and this is the part I'm playing.  It really helps!  Just don't over-act and make it obvious that's what you're doing.

Good luck!  and relax, it'll be fine.

  4. You will meet people in class and sooner than you think, you will be hanging out and eating lunch with them. Just open up a little bit. You don't have to be overly friendly, just be approachable and people will come.

  5. sounds kinda anti social but I guess you did say you was really shy just acting like your doing something else

  6. Well I would've said sit by someone that looks farmiliar (like someone from your previous class that you might have had a little chat with) or if you really want to sit by yourself If you have a cell phone you can like pretend you're texting or something ! HAHA...Honestly that's what I'd do...People will be like why is she sitting by herself but atleast she has something to do so you don't look dumb just sitting there by yourself eating..GOOD LUCK! xo (but try to sit with friendly people)

  7. Pretend ur texting or something so u don't look so lonely

  8. Just look for some similar people like yourself and join in! Chances are they are nervous too! Good luck!

  9. You can make a whole lotta new friends in your classes before lunch, and ask them if he/she wants to sit with you at lunch! :)
