High school internships abroad?

Question

I am 16 and if you look at my other question it is about studying abroad. Are studying abroad/volunteering,etc and interning the same things? Are the different. Help me out here.

when you study abroad, you are going to classes and living life like the teens in the country you are visiting. voulenteering is usually considered a missions trip and you dont get college recognition for that.
