Question:

High school job on a local newspaper?

My school doesn't have a school newspaper, so how can I get some experience if I want to be a journalist? I don't care if I get paid or not I just really want to start building my career early. Plus, my dad wants me to get a job for my career. I have no idea why though, for all he cares I could be working at McDonald's (no offense). Any advice?

  1. Look into your city's local newspaper or newsletter. They're always publishing news stories written by freelance writers. Try and contact them and ask them if they have any openings for you. If not, ask them if it's if it's possible to submit your current events stories to them. It's always a great start.
