High school summer reading: Should I use sparknotes? How hard is the test?

So, I have to do summer reading for high school of course. From what the highschool website says, we're going to be tested on the books when we get back. I just found out about this summer reading a little bit ago, so I am way behind.

I have to read 3 books because I am taking honors classes. I've already read one book, the Odyssey, which I actually ended up liking. Now I have to read 3 parts of the bible and Mythology. I'm 160 pages into Mythology, but I don't think I'm gonna finish both of these books by the day we have to be tested. I'm planning on finishing Mythology, but not the bible. I read the bible a few years ago, and I kind of remember it, but definitely not in detail.

So should I use sparknotes for the 156 pages of the bible I have to read? Anyone know how hard their highschool reading tests where?

Sorry if this question was sloppy, I'm in a rush.

  1. Nice! Your high school's program seems really quite solid. The Ancients are really the way to start.

I don't know what your teacher will test, but I think you can Sparknote, then read. You'll know what parts to pay attention to when you read the actual work, making it go much faster.

Whereas, if you Sparknote only, you'll miss a lot of the substance.
