High school teens: What is the current style with hair and fashion?

My daughter is 14 and goes to a huge high school with 450 Freshman and 1400 kids total. Are the 80's back? Neon colors? I see preppy kids, punk kids, etc. Is there a fad that the majority of kids are following or is everyone just seeking their own individuality and wanting to be different. (I saw a kid at her school with long spikes dyed blue).

It just makes me think back to high school when most of us wanted to dress the same and no one came to school with spiked blue hair. My daughter is wanting to dye her hair pink or blue. What do you think? A part of me says it's just hair and another part doesn't want her to be judged by her hair which people will do.

the 80's aren'tt back.though some teens do wear neon colors itisn'tt a fad that everyone is following. some kids are wearing noticeablee clothing or hair styles but iisn'tnt everyone. as for what your daughter wanting to dye her hair blue or pink, i would say let her use a dye that will only last a few days and then if she still likes it then let her use a semi permanant dye. or you could let her do blue or pink highlights. people may judge her but it shouldn't do any harm

Everyone seems to be seeking their own individuality but no one wants to steer too far from the pack, hence why everyone is rocking the neon. I graduate high school around 2 years ago, Im 20. I understand her view and yet also your view. Maybe you could do what my mother and I did. We comprimised. I had pink highlights for a while. It was tastefully done, yet still was cool looking.

Tartan and lace are in this season and so is black! xD

I think highlights look alot better than a dye !

ya there's judging all around about everything. but if u dont like the fact that she wants to dye her hair pink or blue..there's always highlights.  those look really cute on alot of people. but make sure u take her with you when you go shopping so she can pick out what she likes. its better to go with what she feels would descibe her best. in another word..individual. it can be a good thing to be different. =D
