High school wrestling?

I am going to be a freshmen in highschool next month, and wrestling starts in the winter. I already have training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, som I figured that can boost my game.

But, a friend of mine went to the same high school I did a few years back, and he said wrestling training is tough, and there is a LOT of running. So my question is, what can I do to prepare myself for extreme conditioning? If it isn't going to be as bad as I think, its always good to be prepared. Thanks

  1. high school wrestlin' is good

  2. wrestling training is tough it takes a ton of endurance so running is the best way to get into shape.i know some jiu jitsu and from experience wrestling will help.

  3. Oh its very tough. But its also extremely rewarding.  Going to tournament's is really fun!  But its lots of conditioning in terms of endurance and strength training.  Oh, and be ready to have to possibly cut weight to make your desired category. Always fun!! Ha!

  4. Run.  Run some more.  The best way to get in shape for running is running.  Start with a relatively easy distance and work your way up.  Try setting time goals for your distance as well.  Also, 20 pushups, 20 situps and 20 chinups per day is a good place to start.
