High sprained ankle: Pittsburgh Steelers confirm Mike Adams lengthy ousting – NFL News
Mike Adams’ availability for selection for the rest of the current season is in question after the Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed their right tackle is to spend ‘significant’ time on the sideline with a high sprained ankle injury.
Adams suffered the injury against the Cleveland Browns and since then has not hit the field. Now coach Mike Tomlin has confirmed he will not do so for a substantial amount of time given the injury is of a serious nature.
Since the recovery from a high sprained ankle is an unpredictable process, there is a possibility that the player might well be out of the season. Given the Steelers are struggling to remain on the course to playoffs, their failing to do so in remaining
five games of the regular phase might end current season for the player.
Earlier, the player was not anticipated to have suffered an injury as serious as high sprained ankle but according to the coach latest scans results have shown it to be an ankle blow. This will require at least three weeks for healing and rehab, making the
player inactive for the period.
Tomlin noted it was another serious blow to the offensive line of the Steelers. Its implication is even worse given the team is struggling to keep fit quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, WR Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown and players at other offensive positions.
It has become a real challenge for the team to put up some respectable show during each game. In their last game against the Browns, they conveniently lost to the opposition. It was their historical defeat because they had always walked over the Browns easily
in the past.
This week they face an even tougher opponent – the Baltimore Ravens – and their performance history shows that they have never won against the team without quarterback Ben in the side. The Ravens have already beaten them this season, and other loss will
match the Steelers’ two losses to the Ravens in last season.
Due to a high number of injuries on the offence the team is seeking help through reshuffling the players at different positions while they have set an ambitious hope that QB Big Ben and other players return to action sooner than the scheduled recovery.
