High time for Sachin to plan his future, feels http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Michael-Chappell-c63914 – Cricket News update
Former Australian cricketer, Ian Chappell has urged the Indian batting prodigy, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar to stop blaming others for his current dip in form and introspect himself.
The 68-year-old former Australian skipper asked the batting veteran to reassess his game and plan his future and ask himself if he was extending his cricketing career for the right purpose.
"What could have been a glorious farewell tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 has turned into an ongoing tale of missed opportunities, leading to frustration all round," Ian Chappell wrote in his column for a leading Daily.
"When a player of Tendulkar's ability starts blaming others for his failure to deliver, it was time he asked himself: 'Am I playing this game for the right reason?'" Chappell, himself a legendary cricketer, added further.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been stuck on 99 international centuries since March last year. The world cup win for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 last year was the perfect time for the legendary batsman to bid adieu to international cricket, but he did not do so, and extended
his career for the elusive ton. But almost twelve months after the exhilarating victory, the batting maestro is still awaiting the 100th international ton.
The only motivation for Tendulkar, who will turn 38 next month, is to continue playing for the elusive century, which he has failed to score in his last 18 innings. Since the world cup victory on April 02, 2011, Sachin has played 11 Tests and 7 One Day Internationals
for India, compiling a tally of 921 runs at an average of 32.89, a including highest score of 94.
The former Aussie skipper said that every cricketer has only one reason to play and that is to help the team win matches. Chappell insisted that individual statistics should never be a motivation.
"…when individual statistics start to overshadow the team result then clearly there is a problem,” said Chappell. "That has been a huge hurdle for India to overcome all summer,” he said, adding that the elusive ton of Sachin has become a burden for the team
as well as the veteran.
The Master Blaster has once again been picked for the Indian side that tours http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 to play in the quadrangular Asia Cup tournament, giving him another chance to achieve the milestone in the familiar subcontinent conditions.
