  1. I don't think so buddy.  Maybe in the long term it will speed up the development of alternative fuels.  However for the next 10 years or so, it will be very bad for just about everyone.  If gas continues its current trend in 6 years gas will be at 8.50 a gallon.

The reason that people will not drive less is that it is impossible to walk most commutes.  The average american lives 8.9 miles from there workplace.

Recreation Business and the Travel industry will be greatly impacted as well as the Airlines and Food Prices.

You asked a very broad question so I will stop here.

  2. Higher gas prices do nothing but put an unnecessary drag on the economy. Yes, people may drive less, but as far as man-made global warming goes, its just a hoax. The Earth is unaffected by our actions, so clamping down of carbon emissions, is but a waste of time.

  3. Unfortunately not. The average American would probably still rather pay $4.00 a gallon than ride their bike somewhere. People often enjoy complaining about things, but when it comes to doing something about it, they're nowhere to be found.

  4. Well there are alot of people who choose to ride bikes to places nearby and that's definitely increased with the gas prices going up.  A lot of people I know have started paying more attention to the food they eat since money disappears fast when you buy a bunch of junk.  So even though the higher prices are really inconvenient, there's some good.
