Higher number of injuries hurts Tennessee Titans win chance versus Houston Texans – NFL News
Bad news have continued pouring in for the Tennessee Titans just before their most important game versus visitors the Houston Texans this Sunday (Dec. 02), as after the team confirmed middle linebacker Colin McCarthy out of the side with a concussion, they
said a couple of more key players were questionable for the weekend’s tie.
McCarthy suffered concussion in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on past Sunday and has not hit the field for practice since then. Now Coach Mike Munchak said they will not take the player for the Texans’ game just as a precaution to avoid the possibility
of aggravating the injury.
Although the coach did not divulge in open terms, his statement sounded the player is yet to return to hundred percent fitness. There is also confusion around scope of the injury because no side has given an exact picture of it. Even now the team has not
given details about recovery status of the player. So, still all the situation is uncertain.
Munchak said they are bringing linebacker Tim Shaw to cover for McCarthy in the base defence while they have replaced the injured player with Will Witherspoon in a pass rushing situations.
The coach further disclosed that defensive end Derrick Morgan with a knee injury and running back Jamie Harper with an ankle injury are questionable for the game, although they did not show up for practice this week.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Damian Williams, who practised along with teammates, is also questionable for the weekend. Also, wide receiver Kenny Britt and tight end Craig Stevens with respective knee and hamstring injuries are probable.
The number of injuries does not bode well with the team’s win efforts and chances. The Titans are struggling at third position in American Football Conference (AFC) South with 4-7 points on the table. They have already risked their playoff opportunity and
have to win a couple of successive games to bring themselves back on the course.
It is pertinent to note the change of offensive coordinator in the team. Tom Moore has replaced fired Chris Palmer, and the Titans will play under his reign for the first time.
