  1. First you must have a full split, both sides. And a full split in the air in a spiral off-ice. Stretch, Stretch, Practice, Practice. Nothing can beat it. Good Luck!

  2. elena e has it there with help from a friend holding onto the barrier and getting them lift your leg as high as pos and holding it there and make sure they let go and see if you can hold it keeping your hips square and upper body down anther thing you can do is the splits but up the wall so you are lifting it above your hip, i was a very flexable skater and luckily enough to perform the biellman and the doughnut spin by doing these exercises.

also to take the leg higher exhale and try lifting again with help from a friend

  3. You can stretch all you want, but it won't make a huge difference.  I can do the splits, but I don't look like Sasha Cohen.  What you need is muscle in your legs.  Do as many exercises as you can that focuses on your thighs.  Do squats and run and really build up muscle.  Also, Sasha's spiral is so high because she really opens up her hip.  Work on getting comfortable with rotating your hip outward when you lift up your leg.  If you notice when you do the splits, your back foot is facing sideways, the inside of your foot is against the floor.  You want to simulate that as much as you can, so really work on twisting the hip open when you're lifting your leg.

  4. Do more front splits and also do a stretch that a friend of mine came up with. put your forearms on a surface such as a desk or even better something low like a chair but make sure that it is sturdy.Lift one of your legs in the air. Let a friend push your leg so that it goes towards your head, all the time keeping it straight and unbent at the knee. You should arch your back and point your toes. Eventually your friend will be able to push your leg so far in front that it can touch the wall opposite it!You will be able to duplicate the same thing on ice as long as you stretch and practice frequently..........Hope it helps!

  5. Just go on the wall and bring your leg up. Make sure you stretch before going on ice. It will ake you more flexible and your legs easier to go up. Good Luck...
