Haven't been around much recently due to taking a long holiday in Italy (beautiful arcitecture, lovely people etc) and only got back on Sunday. I hope everyone is great and enjoying all the summer cricket.

Thought I would get back into the swing of things (so to speak) by asking a question.

So...

What is the highest score made by a team in which no player scored more than 49? (I.e no-one got a half century or higher).

  1. I'm guessing 539.

But that's not taking extras into account so it would more than likely be higher.

  2. The highest Test score without an individual half-century is England's 315 against West Indies in Port-of-Spain in 1985-86: the highest score was David Gower's 47, although there were 59 extras in that one. England also made 304 against South Africa in Cape Town in 2004-05, when the highest score was 42 from Steve Harmison at No. 11 (and there were only 27 extras that time).

  4. Hello Sarah,

Hope you enjoyed your holiday and your exams went well. The nearest I have been to Italy was sitting on the tarmac whilst the 'plane refuelled and the Zambian football team disembarked ( I was flying back from South Africa, and we went via Zambia for some reason)

To answer your question, it is the 315 scored by England against West Indies, as mentioned already by JPeeling.
