  1. Probably director of operations or general manager.

  2. Paid celebrity resort promoter.

It takes a big name from the sports world, Franz Klammer in Europe, or Toni Sailer in the 50's, It takes a name to make great big money.

  3. Owner's spouse.

  4. Most freedom would come with rank or more appropriately: ownership. You should be either investing or positioning yourself for ownership in your own companies. This could be real estate or getting a sbl (small business loan) to buy a franchise. The key is not to run the franchise, but get people to run it on a day to day operation perspective. As a CEO or your own company, you delegate responsibility, and profit off the maintenance of the business mechanism generating money. Once you figure out the franchise and the business model, continue to do that. Remember: don't micromanage, but inspire and incentivize....this way you can take time off whenever you are not growing your empire, and things should stay afloat, theoretically.

  5. Not counting CEOs, Presidents, COOs, etc.....

The General Managers (or similarly titled managers) make the most.

Not counting the rest of the resort, the ski business usually looks like this:

    GM

    Base Manager (at multi-lodge areas)

Mountain Operations Manager (below him are the snowmakers, groomers, lifties)

    Supervisors

    Workers

Sales, Ski School, Ski Patrol, Rental Shop, Mounatin Ops, etc...all have the same basic management tier. Most places have all of these managers reporting to the GM or Base Manager.

Sales and Marketing are usually the second best paid at big resorts because they often get commissions. Likewise, the support staff such as the Controller, PR Manager, etc make pretty good cash as well. Those are the year-round jobs...hard to get too.

  6. Try looking into the ski instrutors, you should get paid pretty high for frezzing your butt off while having to teach people.

  7. Best job of them all is being an evening shuttle/van driver. Usually w/a hotel or property mgmt company. You get great tips and you get to ski during the day!  Of course you'll need to work your way up to these choice hours.
