Highland Duke’s profile awaiting for a success through the Steps In Concert Here 21st July Handicap
The Class 5 Steps In Concert Here 21st July Handicap has gathered a highly versatile line-up of nine three-year-old runners to try their luck over the mile, two furlong and ninety-five yard track at Haydock on Friday, 20th July. The
entries are from diverse backgrounds, either a handicap under the belt or a maiden that go cleared recently.
The 5 to 1 entry for the race, the three-year-old bay colt, Highland Duke, has suffered through clearing the maiden for so long that his third position in the handicap he was the part of came as a pleasant surprise for the connections who are highly anxious
about his performance today.
The career debut of the bay colt our of mare, House In Wood, began the racing career with an eighth position in the Wedgewood Estates E B F Maiden Stakes (Division I) on 17th September, 2011 at the Newbury race course over seven furlongs.
The race was won by, Mighty Ambition.
The last try of the Clive Cox trained for breaking the maiden was on 28th May, 2012 in the British Stallion Studs Coplow EBF Maiden Stakes at Leicester over a mile and half a furlong.
The three-year-old Irish bay colt was in pursuit of the leaders, made effort when the last two furlongs remained to be raced over, did not let go off the pace even when the winner, Nine Realms, and the runner-up, Razorbill, went through the wire.
Until yet the final attempt of the Highland Thoroughbred Ltd owned was in the Betfred Home Of The Big Winners Handicap on 1st July, 2012 at Windsor over a mile and half a furlong.
The favourite entry of the race got on to tracking the leaders, he did throw in some effort two furlongs out but could not match the speed of the leading pair.
The distance of today’s race is a little more as compared to what the Philip Brady bred has raced over before. The three-year-old will be paired with jockey, Ryan Tate, and the duo will race from the sixth stall.
Fifth outing of the career should see Highland Duke improvising on his rankings.
