Highlights from Round 3 of Crowne Plaza Invitational – Part 2
John Sendon teed off from the front on Saturday and finished at par after producing two birdies and equal bogeys in the 18-hole session. The Aussie stepped into the third round with an aggregate of 9-under after carding twelve birdies in the 36-hole session.
On Saturday however, the hasty greens made it difficult to reel some extra points, hence compelling the player to finish at par.
When asked to comment on the pin placement and the weather conditions, Sendon said, “No, it was a pretty windy day, wasn't it? The pins are a bit more tight. Now it will be an interesting day tomorrow. More fun stuff rather than going further ahead.”
Despite that, the veteran said that he was looking forward to the final round in which he was ready to take the charge. The Aussie also added that he was certain that the Colonial Country Club won’t let him down, as he treated it as his home club.
The veteran added, “Yes, it's a home game for us to. We live about 40 minutes up the road so we see a lot of people from Flower Mound and Bridlewood. You know, it's a fun tournament for us and Colonial Country Club really looks after me as well. They let
me come down here any time and play and it's a fun golf course to play.”
The fourth place on the leader board was occupied by Mark Wilson, Paul Goydos and Stuart Appleby.
The winner of 2010 Greenbrier Classic, Appleby jumped ten spots up by the end of Saturday. He teed off from the front, reeled two birdies in the front and two at the back against a lonesome bogey. The player missed couple of fairways and dropped couple of
putts, while attacking the pin directly.
He was joined by Goydos, who birdied four holes against a bogey and Wilson, who could not save par after two bogeys and one double-bogey.
Five-way tie was seen at the seventh spot of the leader board, which included Steven Bowditch and Marc Leishman from Australia, Rory Sabbatini from South Africa, D.J Trahan and Brian g*y from United States. Trahan shot the lowest score out of the group with
the help of six birdies. The American relished an average of 300 in driving distance accompanied by 64 percent success rate in driving accuracy.
Meanwhile, Bowditch posted the highest score that encompassed five bogeys and three birdies. The Aussie could not provoke the same magic with what he marveled the crowd on Friday. He reeled eight birdies, despite having a poor long game.
