Highlights from the final round of BMW International Open – Part 3
Henrik Stenson, who led the field in the first round, could not find the coordinates in his favour after Thursday. The Swede became target of inclement weather conditions and was seen at the bottom half section on the leaderboard. In order to make his way
back to the top, the player birdied three holes in the front and one at the back, but could not relish much success.
Bradley Dredge and Richard Green produced a score of 11-under-par in the four-day session to occupy the 12th spot on the leaderboard. Welshman Dredge managed to post a score of 60 for the second time in the tournament. He chose to tee-off from
the front and clawed four birdies in the closing six holes, sealing it with a score of four-under, 32. Marching towards the back, packed with confidence, the player picked two more birdies and left the course with a score of 66.
Italian ace Matteo Manassero produced the worst score of his four-day session. He carded a score at par after dropping three shots against equal number of birdies.
Former champion David Horsey put up a strong defence in the final round, after failing to deliver in previous rounds. The Englishman produced a round of 69 after firing four back-to-back birdies starting from par-4, 3rd.
World number 11 Dustin Johnson managed to produce a round in 60s for the first time in four days. The American, who stepped into the tournament hoping for a win, failed to fulfill his bid. He birdied three holes in the front and three at the back against
a bogey to compile a score of 67. In addition to that, he relished a success rate of 50 percent in sand saves, which meant that he remained out of trouble half of the time.
Martin Kaymer, Peter Lawrie and Colin Montgomerie posted a score of 9-under par to occupy the 18th spot on the leaderboard. World number three Kaymer stepped into the final round at par, but managed to catch four birdies to produce a low number.
Meanwhile, Ryder Cup striker, Montgomerie carded an equal score but without dropping any shots. The Dubliner caught three birdies by attacking the greens with a wayward approach. The strategy kept him safe and made his chances firmer on the score. Despite
that, he could not go past the 18th place.
