Highlights from the final round of RBC Canadian Open – Part 4
Rickie Fowler, Chad Campbell and Keegan Bradley compiled a score of three-over-par to occupy the 22nd spot on the leaderboard.
Fowler, once again, let down the American dream. He stepped into the tournament as the betting favourite, but could not live up to that reputation. Fowler’s fans would’ve been jumping with joy, seeing him tee-off from the front with a birdie and an eagle.
However, as soon as he walked onto the back nine, his fans would’ve wanted to walk back home. The player ruined his scorecard with four bogeys on his back nine, and wrapped the day with a 71.
“Yeah, I do. I was kind of sideways today. So I liked how I got it in. Didn't drive the ball as well as I did yesterday,” said Fowler, while commenting on his game.
Bradley failed to produce a single round in score of 60s. He posted a 70 in his first three rounds and wrapped it with a 73. The player, who was seen struggling on the tees and the greens, dropped four shots in the day against a birdie.
The only strength observed in his game was his driving distance, which ranked him fifth in the category.
Meanwhile, Campbell, who led the field at one point of the tournament, could not bear the pressure of the final round. He picked a single birdie in the closing 18 holes against four bogeys, to compile a score of 73.
One stroke behind Campbell sat Ben Crane and Ryan Moore.
Crane, who is known for his straightest shots on the PGA tour, made good use of his skills and wrapped the day at par. He clawed four birdies in the day against an equal number of bogeys. The only problem area that he encountered was finding the greens.
The veteran missed 11 greens and could manage to hit only seven in the day.
Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan finished tied for the 34th spot. Mahan stepped into the final round with a score of 73 and capped it with a 71 after dropping two shots against a lone birdie. The American pro played like a rookie on the fairways of
Shaughnessy.
On the other hand, Furyk, who won the FedEx rankings last year, could not save his shots from the hazards present on the course. Half the time, he was seen up and down the fairways, which left him with four birdies and four bogeys.
