Highlights from the final round of the Memorial tournament – Part 2
This article is a continuation of the Highlights from the final round of the Memorial Tournament, which took place at the par-72 Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin, Ohio.
Matt Kuchar and Brandt Jobe occupied the second spot on the leaderboard after posting a 65, the lowest score of the day.  Kuchar, who is the sixth seed of the world teed off from the front and fought well against the torrential wind, which later turned into
rain. The American clawed five birdies in the front, which helped him prepare for the worst that was yet to come on the back.
As Kuchar marched towards the back, it started to rain and the officials of the tournament blew the horn to put the round on a halt. However, as soon as the round resumed, the veteran reeled two more birdies and wrapped the tournament in second place.
When inquired about the reason behind his superb results, the veteran said that he had been working on his driving, which is why he relished a success rate of 71 percent in it.
Speaking to reporters after a second place finish, Kuchar said, “I hit probably more drivers than most guys. I don't know exactly a lot of the holes you just can't hit drivers, but I'd say I probably hit three or four more drivers than most guys out here,
and it's just really what the hole gives you. I think it's not being conservative; there's just a lot of times there's not really anywhere to go with driver.”
Kuchar was joined by Jobe, whose scorecard was far more glorious. The player, who has not won a title on the PGA Tour, amazed the spectators with the birdie fiesta he started from the fourth hole, where he demonstrated his prowess on wedges. The 45-year-old
birdied the immediate hole and with a gap of one green, the Oklahoma-native fired three back-to-back birdies to seal the front with a score of 5-under par 31.
Slightly better than Kuchar, Jobe clamped three birdies on the back against a bogey and wrapped the four-day session in second place.
Before teeing off for the final round, Jobe said that he would put his utmost will in winning the tournament against what the leader board predicted.
“Honestly, I don't think there's anything you can do. Sometimes it's some people's weeks, and when they're hitting shots that good and making shots, you've just got to do all you can do, which is just play as hard as you can. That's about it,” said Jobe.
The player stood by his statement and relished the highest success rate in long and short game. He attained 86 percent in driving accuracy and 94 percent in Green Hits in Regulation.
