Highlights from the second round of Wells Fargo Championship – Part3
Brian Davis, who secured a position in the ninth place, teed off from the back and reeled three birdies for a quick start. He marched towards the front, birdied the opening hole, bogeyed the fifth and wrapped the day with two more birdies. The player faced
problems in his long game, but was extremely accurate on the greens, which served as a tool in him making the cut.
He relished a success rate of 83 percent in Green Hits in Regulation, which meant he missed only three greens out of eighteen.
When asked to comment on his game, Davis replied, “I played well. I made a putt when I needed to and just played solid. I didn't hit any bad shots apart from one, but apart from that, all day I was hunting for birdie, so it was good. I played pretty good
today. I had a little bit of trouble out there, but apart from that I had a really good day.”
Eight players were tied in the eighth place with a score of 6-under par. They included Kevin Na from United States, John Senden from Australia and Sergio Garcia from Spain.
Na, who is famous for his record in Valero Texas Open, where he carded 15-over par on a single hole, remained successful in carding a constant number for the second day. He carded a 69 with the help of seven birdies and four bogeys. Na was fairly accurate
in the long game, but could not hit Greens in Regulation, which later resulted in his poor putting.
Meanwhile, Senden compiled the lowest score of the day with the help of eight birdies. The Aussie was seen up and down on the greens, which ultimately paid off and he became the player to card the most birdies of the day and that too without any loss.
Spain’s torch bearer, Garcia tried producing a bogey-less scorecard and savoured success to some extent as he dropped a single shot in the 18-hole session. He started from the back and aced the opening hole, which set rest of the field in the fear to protect
their spots on the leaderboard. To their luck, that eagle was the only shot that could make the player proud, as he could not earn anything similar to it. He birdied two more holes and wrapped the day with a score of 69.
One stroke below him sat Davis Love III, the player, who was considered for the Shot of the day in the opening round. The American played considerably well as compare to yesterday, as he carded a 69 with the help of five birdies.
