Highlights from third round of Masters- Part 2
This is the second half of the recap for the third round.
Tiger Woods smashed a score of 2-over par 74 in the third round of the Masters to take a share in the ninth spot of the leader board. He racked some poor shots that eventually left a colour on his scorecard. The only ray of hope
was seen at the third and the thirteenth hole, where he produced some good tee shots, which by the end of the day bought his score down. The former world-number one compiled an aggregate of 5-under par and settled seven strokes behind the leader, Rory McIlroy.
The player-without-a-major victory blamed his putter for his poor scores. “I swung the club well all day. That was not the problem. Two three-putts and a bunch of putts that looked like they were going to go in, so it was just,
I just didn't make anything on the greens.”
Woods was joined by the 51-year-old Fred Couples, Geoff Ogilvy, Ross Fisher and Bubba Watson. The lowest score of the group was compiled by Watson, who shot a 67 after firing seven birdies against two bogeys. The American delivered
some brilliant shots on a hot Saturday, withstanding the pressure increasing with approaching of the final round.
Meanwhile, the winner of 1992 Masters, Couples could not take advantage of his experience and left the course at par after dropping three shots. When asked, what he expected from the coming Sunday, he said, “With a great round
tomorrow, who knows. But I'm not disappointed.”
On the other hand, Fisher seemed extremely disappointed after the third round. The Englishman dropped two shots in the front against a birdie and wrapped it with a 2-under par. He marched towards the back with his face towards
the ground and disappointment showing its curves. Rolling along with a bad day, Fisher bogeyed one more hole to destruct his scorecard further.
However, standing on the 13th tee, the winner of 2010 Irish Open had a long discussion with his caddie. After planning the shot, the 30-year-old hammered a tee shot towards the left of the fairway, which flew on top of a thick
jungle and landed on foot of the green. The player took his second shot towards the centre of the green and aced the hole to clean his scorecard from the blemishes.
Fisher talked about his disappointment with the press and said that he failed to deliver the game, which he has planned for the day. Despite that, he was looking forward to a fantastic week coming ahead; as his wife was due to
give birth to their second child in it.
