Highschool/college coverup?

Has your highschool/college ever tried to cover up a potentially damaging incident?

For example has something happened on campus or to a student and the school has threatened/bribed people to keep it secret?

First it happened in 1961,when we went out for a picnic with a paraphernalia of 12 vehicles. We had an accident with one of the vehicle. We somehow managed to return back after making a make-shift arrangements, and repaired the vehicle at night itself secretly on a workshop.

The second when one of the boys and a close friend of miine died in a large pool in wilderness in 1965. So shocking the event was when everybody ws told that as yet the body has not been found as yet. We were strictly told not totalktoanyone on the subject when we return home either to othe rteachers or the parents of the boy. The body of theboy was found after a gap of three days.
