Although this one is somewhat obvious, don't be a jerk or a s**t. Incoming middle schoolers seem to have distorted views of what is "cool".

If you meet any upperclassmen *****, just try to avoid them. Don't really dignify their attacks with too much of a response.

Don't be stupid, think before you do or say something.

Don't ask teachers for every single thing like going to the bathroom. Most teachers get over that, however, there are still some teachers who insist on knowing where you go.

Try to make friends with a wide range of people, not just one group. It is much more fun :)

Work hard. Freshman year is an important year, no matter what people say. However, don't forget to have fun. Freshman year is also one of the best years in high school.

its such a complicated time in life. the cool part is that everyone goes thru it.  the biggest lesson i learned is to stay true to yourself. if you try to be something your not you will never be truly happy. sometimes it seems like high school is all about 'clicks'... but i found that if your confident, openminded, and friendly you wont have a hard time making friends. try to get involved in something you enjoy or have interest in. sports, art club, debate team...  it is a really good opportunity to make friends. one mistake a lot of people make in high school and in life is being too judgemental. there are a lot of kids that will go to your school who may be kinda nerdy or odd... try not to treat them different. i remember kids always making fun of the odd/unatractive kids and its just best to not take part in that or even better try to put a stop to it.

as far as teachers go most of mine were pretty cool, but theres always the ' burned out ' ones that aren't very nice to say the least. if you do your homework and put some effort into your classes your teachers will most likely be more flexible with you. oh teachers hate to see students text msging, or putting on make- up... basically anything that shows your attention is not focused on them or your work.

overall high school is not that bad, its acually pretty fun. one last peice of advice i have is try not to grow up too fast. i wasted a lot of time thinking i was more mature or adult like than my peers and all that does is make you miss out on the chance to be young!  enjoy this time of your life because you can never go back!

i was a freshman last year, all of my teachers hate peopple who think they know all some teachers like if your in after school stuff sports fine arts. my teachers hate suck ups it wont help then students will hate you as well

the most important thing is you have fun, school is a great place to make friends, try to be out going. teachers generally don't like it when you goof off when they are teaching, and the biggest thing, even if you think school is boring and don't really want to study you really should, trust me, i didn't try as hard as i should have in school and it cam back to bite me in the butt a year after i graduated and finally figured out what i really wanted to do, i had to go back and upgrade so i could get into university for what i wanted. so have fun, high school can be the best time of your life!

one thing that i can tell you that i didn't do until my senior year and regret is not getting involved in your school. Get involved in clubs, high school productions and things like that because its a great way to meet friends, especially those that have their heads on straight and wouldn't bring you down.  And it always looks good for colleges. Teachers in any school hate talking in class, so try to stay away from talking. Um what else stay true to yourself..some people feel like they have to change who they are to fit in, but trust me in the long run it always leaves you with a path of regret. Don't try drugs, lol i sound like a mommy now im only 18..but really it will only mess you up. if you plan to drink which you shouldnt cause your too young, try not to get drunk..really if you need to drink to have fun then you must either be boring or the people your with are boring lol. Studying is important as always, you do plan to be successful in the future, so keeping your GPA up always will ensure your acceptance to a good college. Ummer um.. what else? don't treat others as you'd like to be treated.. If you have to tease someone to fit in or any thing of the sort your not being true to yourself.. There are so much more things to say.But really you should by now know the differnce between right and wrong. You should have morals.. Oh and in high school you may or may not have "haters" aka girls that dont like you for whatever reason.I say dust it off and pay them no mind because they are jealous of you for something. But most of all try to have FUNNN.. Don't let the little things bother you or get between freindships. life is too shortt really. if you'd like any more advice [e-mail] =)..hope i helped a little

I got really nervous when i was going to go to high school. I was afraid that i might not fit in, Ppl wudnt like the way i looked but then when i got there everybody was so nice and friendly. Teacher ...??...i don't know the teachers at ur school but teachers don't like late students..sum teachers r hard..sum r easy. High school doesn't feel dat different once u get comfortable in it..dats all i can say..It doiesnt change u much.. ur still da same person

Do your homework

Get good grades

Don't act like a know-it-all

Respect your teacher

Pay attention in class

You should have fun with school so join some clubs and make new friends. After your first week at school you'll feel right at home and know what to do. I get nevrous every year before the first day of school and go to the worst case saniaro. When I actually get to school I see that everthing is ok. You should relax.

P.S. Don't give in to peer pressure!

With the teachers, show them that you care, and that you are not an immature little kid.  Try hard with your work, study, and pay attention in class.  They will take you more serious.  With your social life, dont try to be the most popular kid, b/c those are the ones that the upper classmen usually cant stand.  But most important is to make the best of everything and have fun!!!
