Highschool?

Question

I'm homeschooled, in 8th grade. I have been since 5th grade. I'm thinking about going back to school. In 9th grade, highschool. All my friends go there, but I prbably won't fit in again cuz I'm quiet. Or shy. Anyways, should I? I have plenty of friends in homeschooling but, I miss seeing lots of people, even having homework....

Namine, I'm a homeschooled 10th grader. I ahve been homeschooled since i was in 8th grade. What program are you in. A great program to try would be k 12. Visit  www.k12.com and look under high school. I have found that for the 1st semester that i was in public school in 8th grade, i had F's and D's. Now, I am on A/B honor roll! I find it easier to homeschool becuase you can go at your own pase and learn the things that you have most difficulty with slower than having to go at the same pase when your doing somthing easy.

Hey! I'm homeschooled too... if you really feel like you want to i would do it... if things go bad with the school there you can always pick up where you left off in homeschool.  your lucky in that you can choose whether to go to high school OR homeschool.... if after a few months you really don't want to be in a highschool after all... theres nothing to keep you from returning to your home studies..... but if you feel comfortable doing so... talk it out with your mom and dad.. see what they say... if they want you to just do what you want.. they really do want you to do what you would like the most... so at that point you can decide whether you want  to go for it.... with the back up plan of homeschool.. or say.......nah... lol

I think you should go back into the public school system.  It will be good for you to see your friends and even understand the complex relationships between different kids you interact with...this will only help you in the future.

i've been home schooled too.  i thought about going to the local high school, but decided that correspondence school was better.  i don't know if that'll help.

I went to a public high school for half of the year, and now I am doing homeschooled high school. I am sure if you went to the public school, you would fit in fine. It really is up to you. However if it is the homework you really miss, maybe give yourself the task of doing extra work as homework like a report or extra worksheets to reenforce what you are learning. That would help you learn the curriculum better and would satisfy the homework need. As for seeing lots of people, yes at high school there are lots of people, but I never got to really socialize with my friends at school. That always had to take place after school because even at lunch we only had enough time to quickly eat, go to the bathroom, and get to our next class. It's your call but I would say stay homeschooled.

I have been home schooled since preschool and i am a freshman this year.I had the same problem,but i am doing a DVD class (at home) and I really like it.You get the school experience w/o the bad stuff like drugs and stuff its really kinda fun and you get highschool transcripts that colleges except!!

At the end of the day, you won't know until you try it. Just be sure you are ready. Remember that school is for academics, not socializing and that you'd probably have more social time if you just homeschooled and hooked up with your buddies after classes. You could also start a study club at the library and invite your public school friends. You have the freedom to change your curriculum to closely mirror theirs if you like. You could always feel it out this year, then go back next year.

    There is nothing wrong with being quiet. But if you want to be more outspoken, try joining the local drama club. Most cities have one. It is great practice for speaking up. Or, take a community college class in public speaking. Then you get college credit for your new skills.

And if you don't like it, just go back to home schooling. It won't hurt to try it again.

If I were you, I'd probably stay in home school... I'm in the 9th right now and in a public school and I hate it. For you, it could be different.

And you probably won't always want homework...It gets tiring and annoying after a short while.

I've been homeschooled all my life... I'd remain homeschooled if I were you... I heard there's a lot of pressure in high school
