Real Madrid forward, Gonzalo Higuain, has admitted that it is not in their hands to retain their La Liga title this season, but that they will be fighting until the end.
The defending champions’ hopes of retaining their La Liga title are hanging by a thread after they lost 1-0 to Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin stadium, whilst http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 cruised to a 4-0 victory against Levante.
Now they are 11 points behind their bitter rivals, Barcelona, and it seems only a miracle can snatch the title away from the Catalans.
Regardless, Higuain is not giving up hope yet and believes his side has what it takes to turn things around.
The Argentine admits the gap between them and Barca is huge, but still has no doubt that Real have the capacity to retain their title.
"We are a huge number of points behind them and we are competing against great teams, but I have no doubt that this team has the squad to win the title."
The 24-year-old mentioned that he was in the same predicament when he arrived at Bernabeu, but somehow ended up with winning the title. So for him nothing is impossible.
"We were in this position when I arrived but we ended up winning the league.”
The striker concluded his remarks on the fact that Real’s destiny is not in their hands. All they have to do now is keep fighting match after match and hope for other results to go in their favour.
"It's not in our hands, and we'll need other results to go our way, but we have the squad to keep fighting till the end and that's what we'll do."
Finally, La Blaugrana boss, Tito Vilanova, has reassured everyone that the title race is still wide open as there are a lot of games left to play. He also warned of the dangers posed by the resurgent Atletico Madrid who are currently just three points behind
Barca.
"The league is not finished. Firstly because we’ve only played third of it, and then because Atletico are behind us and are very strong.”
Next match in the Primera Division, the defending champions, Real Madrid, will host their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabeu.
