Real Madrid stars Gonzalo Higuain and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 claim that the Spanish La Liga title is in firm grasp of Los Blancos.
Higuain has appeared very confident in the wake of Madrid’s 4-2 victory over Levante and has expressed that he expects the Spanish crown to come to the Bernabeu by the end of the current season’s campaign.
Los Blancos hosted Levante on Sunday in what was tipped to be a very interesting fixture.
Jose Mourinho’s men were able to emerge victorious after an impressive display at home, against a very enthusiastic Levante.
The fixture against Levante was also important for Los Blancos because it gave them the opportunity to lead Barcelona with a 10-point margin on the points table.
The gap between the top two La Liga sides was of seven points; however, a 3-2 defeat away from home, at the hands of Osasuna, provided Real Madrid with the opportunity to enhance their lead.
Jose Mourinho’s men were not too confident ahead of the match against Levante, as the visiting side was able to surprise the league leaders earlier this season.
Therefore, the victory over Levante was welcomed by the Real Madrid faithful as they were not only able to take revenge of their 1-0 loss earlier this season; in fact, they also managed to take a significant lead over Barcelona in the title race.
Higuain, along with his teammates, was jubilant at the victory and stated that the Spanish title was no more an ambition, but a possibility.
While talking to Marca, the Argentine forward said:
"We are happy because we have been on an upward line. The truth is we don't think we are there yet, but there is much more. La Liga is in our hands, but we have to keep working."
Karim Benzema also gave his opinion, maintaining that there is still a long way to go in the season. The French international expressed his joy at the lead against Barcelona but also called for his team to continue fighting.
"We played a great game, but now we must continue. The difference in points with Barcelona is great, but we still have to keep fighting because there's a long way to go. This is not over yet. We're pleased to be top, and so we celebrated the victory together,
however, we recognise that we have to go match by match," Benzema stated.
The Santiago Bernabeu-outfit are now looking forward to their match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 Santander, along with Champions League action in mid-week, where they take on CSKA Moscow.
