The Argentinean star striker was expected o sign a new contract with Real Madrid in the upcoming month but reports suggest that the contract talks, for now, have been put on hold.
The Argentinean star has not been performing at his best and he has always been second in pegging order, right behind the Frenchman, Karim Benzema.
Even though Gonzalo Higuain managed to score more goals than Karim Benzema last season, what the Frenchman provides to the team is definitely more than just goals and Jose Mourinho always chose him over the Argentine striker.
Last season there were rumours that Higuain might leave Real Madrid for greener pastures but Jose Mourinho made it clear that Gonzalo Higuain is very much needed by Los Blancos and he will stay at the Spanish club.
Later, the Argentine’s father was also involved and even he linked the Real Madrid star striker with the Italian champions, Juventus.
However, the contract talks did not materialize and it was decided that Gonzalo Higuain will be staying at Real Madrid for the upcoming season.

Therefore, Higuain started games for Real Madrid but he was still unable to impress the Spanish champions and even though many thought that he will finally get a starting place at the Bernabeu, Benzema’s return saw him getting benched for quite some time.
Gonzalo Higuain was expected to get a new contract until December but reports now suggest that since his performance has not been satisfactory in the eyes of Real Madrid, the contract talks have been stalled for now.
Rumours suggesting Higuain’s departure from Real Madrid are out yet again and the Argentinean star might leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the upcoming transfer window.

Time will reveal where the Argentinean star is going to settle in the future, but for now Real Madrid are not willing to extend his contract.
