  1. well basically your born with the fast division cell that creates the tumor that causes cancer

  2. Well lets see. In today's environment we are exposed to multiple carcinogens i.e. UV rays from the sun, as well as chemicals from smokes in the air. This leads to replication mistakes in cell's DNA. Then how do you fix this? You would kill it, well it will kill itself by the method of apoptosis and make another cell. If cells don't rapidly divide then the number of cell deaths would exceed the number of new cells.

In the case of Cancer cells, the tumor suppressing gene p56 is altered thus apoptosis doesn't occur. Thus these fast division would lead to clumps of cancer cells.

Overall, fast division is to correct the DNA replication that was caused by mutagens.

  3. Cells normally have limits placed on them by the body to the rate at which they can divide. Cancer cells ignore these signals. The body can also limit the growth of cells by killing them in a process called apoptosis. Cancer ignores this signal too.

  4. If I could answer that one, I'd have the next Nobel prize in Medicine in my pocket.  There are obviously many things that can cause the cell changes that cause uncontrolled cell division.
