Okay...i just started high school ^_^ and well we have to take P.E. and my P.E. teacher says i have to buy a shirt and shorts.....

Yesterday i talked to her and told her i can only wear pants and wear a long sleeve under the shirt....

She said i could wear the pants....but i still have to buy the shorts also and wear them under my pants...(which is going to make me hotter)

I asked why...she said because if it gets hot shes gonna make me take off my pants and i have to wear the shorts.....she said as in "safety reasons"...

I told her it was a religious thing and i cant be revieling my legs.....and she didn't care....it really made me angry because she didn't want to hear what i had to say....She just said well.......and then she was quiet...

Also....I know many Muslimahs who went to a different school and they were allowed to just wear the excersising pants....

  1. Just drop your P.E class if you're not required to do it. I never did P.E in high school for that same reason - I didn't want to wear shorts.

  2. sis if you live in the US, then your teacher has no right to tell you this.  Actually it is illegal for her to do so because it is infringing upon your constitutional right to freedom of religion.  Your parents need to talk to the principal and put them all in check.  Ir could be they have no experience with this and simply need to be educated.  I have two daughters in middle school, and we live in Florida of all places and they wear long pants and long shirts for P.E.  The school and P.E. teacher were more than accommodating.  Sis do not back down from this because it is your right.  And since it is your right if people want to deny you, then you have obligation to fight it.  Believe me, if you tell them politely but sternly that this is a matter of civil rights, they should back down right away.  Otherwise get in contact with your local CAIR chapter.

  3. she has no power over you, first amendment, religious freedom, wear what ever you want to class and c what happens, what ever it is, stick to the right path because its a test from allah and allah only tests you with that which you can handle, meaning if you couldnt pass this test, he wouldnt have put it in your way in the first place...stay strong sister

dance, by all means learn how to pole dance, but do it privately where there are no men and then perform for your husband. make him work hard to get you because you worked hard to learn how to please him. make sure he treats you right, and he better if you go through all this for him.. of course, hes also got some leverage over you if he has abs and biceps..its takes really hard work to get those..

  4. Well the whole point of gym uniforms is that you are sweating in a different set of clothes and don't stink the rest of the day.

It depends.....i guess.  What i learned...atleast in my school.....That sometimes they'll tell you..you can't do something thats your right....but they won't enforce it.

Just wear the pants....don't wear the shorts underneath...and don't worry about it.   If you do get into trouble about it.....then explain it to the principle.....but if you go now to the principle...it'll just tick her off more.

Dance, no......again tell the P.E. teacher when it comes up.....

    Me: I can't dance

    P.E: are you sick?

Me: no its against my religion

P.E.  Well i can only excuse you if you are sick....otherwise you have to take it or you won't get credit.

Me: I'm not taking it and i will not get deducted for it.

P.E.  Ok, well then you have to write a 1000 word essay about dancing

Me: Ok (and i wrote mine about why dancing is not allowed in islam).

  5. Since you live in the United States of America, we have religious freedom here. Your PE teacher has no right to tell you to wear shorts if it goes against your religious beliefs. Have your parents talk to your school principal. They can't prevent you from practicing your religious beliefs, otherwise you have a nice lawsuit on your hands. .

  6. You're forced to wear shorts?!! For safety reasons, when it's hot?!! I have many non-muslim friends who wear long sweat pants for PE, even when it's hot. Where is this school of yours? She can't force you to wear shorts?

  7. well if she doesnt want to listen after all of ur explanations

just wear ur long pants nad dont wear shorts underneath!

she can not make u take off ur pants! at all!

maybe u should talk to ur parents and ask them to talk to ur teacher

when i go to PE classes our uniform is white pleeted skirts and a white jersey..but the rules are not strict

my school uniform is also a skirt so, I wear full tights underneath and wear my skirt or PE uniform

i sometimes wear a long pants....the rules arent strict so most children wear what they want!

    about dancing:

Dancing is haram, whether it is with a boy or not!

    Good luck anyway!

i hope everything works well for u...Inshallah

  8. file a complaint against the schoolboard that is what my friend did and then muslim girls were allowed to wear pants... talk to the superintandent and your parents

  9. At my school the Muslim girls wore the nylon hijab, long shirt, and pants. The district can't discriminate based on religious reasons. (I wore pants too because my parents are Orthodox) Talk to the principal, if that doesn't work to the superintendent. Good luck.

  10. you know, the olympic female athlete Roqaya Al-Gassara runs in a full hijab w/ modest clothing.

  11. next time u c her try again to explain to her about it. she should allow u. and even if she doesnt, i would just wear them anyways. the long sleeve shirt under the shirt if fine, but shorts under pants is just stupid. lol. hope it works out.

or just drop the class if its not necessary like the user above me said. itd b a lot better.

hamdillah i went to an islamic school so i didnt have that problem. if the guys and girls had P.E. at the same time theyd put this big screen thingy down in the middle of the gym so that the girls can take of their scarfs and dress comfortably for wtvr sport was being played.

  12. well make your parents come and talk to your teacher personally or take a hand written note and tell her that you don't wanna wear the shorts...and if she doesn't listen than talk to your principle with your parents!

  13. Salaam A3lykum sister, your P.E teacher is pretty much wrong because she can't make u wear something you dont want, and by the way it depends on wat country u live in, here in America i've been to different skools and i've taken Gym class were i get to wear what i want, even my hijab. Also if she lets u wear the long pants why is she telling you to buy the shorts, it doesn't make sense in her part, so what i suggest for u to do is take a parent with u and have a talk with the school principle, trust me they have no right over what u wear.

Always stand for what u believe in. HOPE ALL GOES WELL!! =)

  14. talk to a counselor or even to the principle..let them to talk to her...  well i live in canada so i had some problems with pe classes as well, but i talked to the teacher alot of times till she actually let me do what i want..and about the dance thing, i asked her and she told me that i could do a project on powerpoint just describing dance and music, and i'll get a mark based on the project...

if they didn't listen to you, let your parents come to the school and talk to them..good luck anyway:)... and yes don't back down, stick in what you believe in..

  15. Assalamu'alaikum Wr Wb

There is no exception for school, sports, etc. If a grown up girl goes to a school where there are male and female students, then she is obliged to wear the Hijab.

Muslim girls should have sports with girls. Sports that brings about intermingling between men and women are not allowed [for fear of temptation and immorality]. Muslim girls who play with other girls and no non-Mahrams watch them do not have to wear Hijab.

It is allowed for women to dance together unless it involves revealing any of the woman’s `awrah – that is, the parts of the body between the navel and the knee – in front of other women.

Men and women dancing together is absolutely haram in all cases, The reason behind this prohibition is that with mixed dancing bodily contact is close and improper sexual desires are aroused. This has been strictly forbidden by Islam in an attempt to block the way against evil. If men and women were permitted to dance together, a lot of haram acts could occur. That is why mixed dancing is not allowed.

Try to involve your parents, and your principal in this matter, and hopefully, everything will be okay Insha'Allah:)

    Wassalam

  16. Get your parents involved!!! It is illegal to discriminate yes, discriminate against a "protected class" meaning anyone who does something b/c of religious beliefs, race or ethnicity. They cannot retaliate against you b/c of your religion! they cannot pull you out of advanced classes b/c you don't wear shorts.  where in the us do you live? I saw the olympics last night and one of the competitors was wearing a hijab, long sleeves and really tight pants - it didn't make sense to me. congratulations on your convictions, good luck and if necessary, seek legal advice. depending on where you live there are many resources who are probably willing to help you.

  17. If you can drop the class then drop it or if you love doing P.E as i do then you can get your parent and other parents (If other muslimahs in de skul) to write to the head, worked for one school. In my schoolin de UK i am allowed to wear a hijab as well as long sleeves and jogging trousers cos our school is mostly populated with muslims...so they'd have a lot to answer to if they denied us our rights!!!

  18. What a load of bull. I wore pants and i think my PE teacher said i had to wear shorts underneath but i didn't do that.  I just wore sweats and long sleeve shirt under my t shirt. She can not make you wear shorts, do not listen to her. Dancing with guys is haram. You should switch your PE teacher if it is not too late.

  19. You should say something to your principle. In PE, Muslims were able to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt under the PE shirt. The fact its for religious reasons mean they shouldn't, and can't make you wear the shorts. Salaam
