  1. I am not sure if you are talking about the Arc de Triomphe as a monument of the Hilton Arc de Triomphe hotel. If you are talking about the monument it is a short direct métro ride from Hilton Tour Eiffel, only 5 stops away on line 6 (from Bir-Hakeim station). It is about 2km away so you could walk to it in about 25 minutes.

If you are talking about the hotel, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Montmartre are the 3 major touristic sites that are away from the center. All other sites are in the central arrondissements of Paris. So neither location is the best for sightseeing on foot and neither of them is closest to a convenient, direct métro line to visit central Paris. However, you can easily walk to other métro lines from either one:

    - Arc de Triomphe Hotel: walk 6 minutes to the Arc de Triomphe where you can get métro line 1 or RER A (both very good lines for visiting central Paris)

    - Tour Eiffel Hotel: walk 5 minutes to RER C which runs along the Seine and has stops in central locations. BUT, if you are going this summer, there is work on this line so it won't be operating normally (a shuttle takes over) = not convenient this summer!

So if I had to choose between one of the two, I would choose Arc de Triomphe. Also because you are a short walk to the Champs Elysées where there is some night life whereas there is nothing in the streets around the Eiffel Tower at night.

I hope you have discounts for Hilton hotels or a good reason to stay there because there are many cheaper and better located hotels in Paris. But it depends what you like. If you are on a honeymoon or prefer quiet, luxury and a lot of services/amenities over bustling street life filled with cafés and artists then Hilton Arc de Triomphe is a good choice. Paris is not very spread out anyway and it is a very walkable city.

To locate the hotels on a map, just click on "map this hotel" from the tripadvisor website. It's one option among dozens of others (mapquest, hilton website...):

  2. I stayed in the Hilton right near the Eiffel Tower in April. It was about a 5 minute walk and it was on the Rue Suffren. Beautiful view. As soon as you step outside, look to the right and there's the tower. As far as going to the Arc De Triomphe, we walked about 5 minutes to the Bir Hakiem Metro Station and took it to the Champs Elysees and we were right there. I hope this helps!
