  1. I am , and yes, i do eat milk cheese and eggs, i love em because it's all i tend to eat.

  2. Most Indian vegetarians are just vegitarians, not vegans, because they think it is ok to consume dairy.  If you dont know you are probably better off just making a vegan Indian dish .

  3. The ones I know do...but you should ask.

If you can't ask...just google a vegan indian recipe.  You can't go wrong with that

  4. Maybe you should ask him first.

Hindu vegetarians traditionally eat dairy products but no meat, fish, poultry or eggs.

People of the Jain religion have an additional restriction of not eating root vegetables such as onions and potatoes.

But some Indians are Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, or Parsees, or have no religion at all.

In addition, not all forms of Hinduism require vegetarianism, and many individual Hindus do eat meat as matter of personal choice (in the same way that many religious people don't necessary stick to every detail of their religion).

It seems like he would have said something if he is vegetarian, though.

  5. The majority of Hindu vegetarians eat dairy, hence the prevalence of ghee (clarified butter,) yogurt and paneer (a soft cheese) in Indian cooking.  Most do not eat eggs.  You could always ask this particular man, though.  If someone was cooking for me and asked a couple of questions to clarify what was and wasn't acceptable to me, I'd appreciate it.  Or, you could err on the side of caution and cook a vegan dish.
