Hinds-Sydenham seizes Boys 400m IM gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Hinds-Sydenham of SOPAC seized gold medal of the Boys 400m Individual Medley (IM) in 16-year-olds category on day three of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Wednesday, April 10.
The 16-year-old swimmer showed no mercy to his opponents in the 400m discipline as he occupied the title in a comfortable manner. Hinds-Sydenham faced tough competition from his closest competitor and hit the wall for gold medal.
He was almost three seconds faster from his closest competitor and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 4 minutes and 27.50 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Joachi Bardrum of Auburn, who stayed almost 2.70 seconds slower and hit the wall for silver medal by posting a time of 4 minutes and 30.22 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by James Traiforos of Trinity Grammar, who 1.15 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for bronze medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 31.37 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Hami McDougall of Surrey Park, who stayed nearly three seconds apart and transpired on the finishing wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 34.27 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained y Mack Horton of Melbvicentre, who was 0.43 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 34.70 seconds.
Horton was followed by Lachlan Neill of Clayfield, who was 1.23 seconds behind and stepped on the finishing end for sixth position with an effort of 4 minutes and 35.93 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was secured by Lachlan Colquhoun of Aquatics, who was 0.71 seconds apart and ended his race by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 36.64 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Ryan Leonard of Hunter, who was only 0.06 seconds behind and emerged on the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 36.70 seconds.
In addition, Hinds-Sydenham received a huge round of applause from the audience for his notable pace at the prize ceremony of the race.
