Hippo Wrestling?

Question

I was wondering whether any people here have safety tips on Hippo wrestling. It's something I'd like to get into, but I feel that it could be dangerous without ample training. My brother did it for a while until he got paralyzed from the waist down from a grueling bout with a Congolese Ridgeback (Constrictus Hippo to non-natives).

I was just wondering whether anyone had any experience or tips that they'd like to share before I start. Thank you in advance.
