I have booked a Hire car in the uk to take a trip to france, i can up, went though my plans and got it all booked... i am looking at what i will need at websites tell me i need "Your driving license, (Permis de Conduite) insurance certificate (Carte Verte) and vehicle registration is essential, along with car ownership papers (Carte Grise) and your passport." Will the Hire place give me the insurance certificate and ownership papers or the equivalent? i have hired a car in the uk before with work and they gave me nothing, will i have to ask them for it? anyone know what the crack is?

  1. I hired a van 3 months ago and the rental company gave me all the necessary papers required to take the van into France, did not need to show at port but if involved in an accident they are vital. French Police are very strict!! best of luck and mind your speed.

  2. Hi no you do not need all that but you do need the insurance green card for driving abroad and have you told the hire company that you will be taking the car abroad . you could be on rocky ground there ok i know most hire companys will not let you do that .

    Hope this helps

  3. Did you tell the hiring company that you're taking the car to France? I do not think you will be allowed somehow, check first they need to know this.
