Hiring and reshuffle in Texas Rangers’ frontline office – MLB News
It looks like the Texas Rangers are making some internal changes and promotions in their front office before the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season starts.
The Rangers came up with another announcement on Tuesday, January 31, stating that they have placed Don Kalkstein as a new entrant for the front office, making him the psychology consultant for the team.
It has become obvious that the Rangers are working very hard to strengthen their front office with the most qualified and experienced professionals. Although a tremendous amount of work has been done by the team to modify their roster, the Rangers are also
looking inwards at their managerial positions as well.
Kalkstein has a tremendous amount of professional experience as he worked with the Boston Red Sox. The Rangers fully support Kalkstein and seem satisfied by his presence as consultant.
This view was endorsed by Michael Young as he believes Don Kalkstein is an effective communicator, knowing full well how players function. Thus his is a great addition for the Texas Rangers.
"I can't say enough great things about Donnie," Rangers’ infielder Michael Young said. "He's a fantastic communicator. He understands that all players are wired differently and can reach everybody in the clubhouse on different levels. Players for the Red
Sox loved him, and I'm sure the same can be said for the Mavs. He knows me very well and knows what gets me going. He's a great addition."
On the other hand, with the First-Year Player Draft which falls in June every year, the club decided to hire and promote in the amateur scouting department as well. All these moves are aimed at making full use of the Player Draft scheduled.
Similarly, the club has decided to go for hiring Clarence Johns, who will serve as a national cross-checker. Mike Grouse will have the same position as a promotion. Matt Klotsche also received a promotion as manager of baseball operations.
Brian San Filippo will serve as manager of media services with Rob Morse becoming the manager of publications for media relations.
All the same, Joey Prebynski will serve as assistant advance scout while Mitchell Webb as video coordinator, with Paul Kruger being the assistant for player development.
With such a major reshuffle, the Texas Rangers seem almost done with their frontline hiring and promotions.
