Hiroki Kuroda helps Los Angeles Dodgers defeat Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 - MLB Update
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ starter, Hiroki Kuroda had a splendid day with the ball, as the pitcher tossed shut-out innings in the club’s 3-0 triumph over the Milwaukee Brewers in the second game of the two-game series at the Dodger Stadium, on Tuesday, May
17.
Kuroda allowed just six scoreless hits, walked two and got seven strike-outs over seven innings to take his fifth win of the season. Pitching 71 strikes of 106 pitches in his ninth start of the season, the 36-year-old veteran hurler has improved his record
to 5-3 with 2.80 ERA this season.
The right-hand hurler allowed a single to Rickie Weeks in the eighth inning, just before he received his first balk since he joined the Major League in 2008. However, Corey Hart lined out to centre-field, Ryan Braun flied out to the right side and then Kenley
Jansen retired McGehee to first base after allowing a walk to Prince Fielder.
Allowing just one walk, Jansen finished his single inning pitching to hold his second game of the season. Jansen then handed the ball to closer Matt Guerrier, who tossed a perfect last inning to earn his first save of the season and fifth of the career.
On the other hand, the Dodgers’ starter Randy Wolf after allowing a two-run homer to the Brewers’ Matt Kemp in the first inning, struck back and held the Dodgers scoreless in his five innings. Wolf threw 119 pitches over five innings allowed two runs on
five hits and gave season-high four walks to bear his fourth loss of the season in his eighth start.
Matt, who has came in 0 for 5 with five strike-outs against Wolf, seemed relaxed after touching a beautiful homer.
A Jubilant Kemp spoke to reporters after the game and said, "I got that one hit off Wolf to score those runs, and he shut us down after that. But Kuroda pitched a helluva game. All he needed was two runs today and that got the job done."
Wolf, on the other hand acknowledged Kemp’s hard drives and said, "Having played with Matt, I know his strength is right-centre to right field. He has that inside-out swing and he is a big strong guy."
Sergio Mitre replaced Wolf up the middle of the sixth inning, held the Dodgers scoreless impressively over one inning to provide the batters a chance to score a run. However, none of the batters managed to turn the singles into earned runs. Then closer Mike
McClendon gave away another run in the last inning to confirm the Brewers’ 22nd defeat this season.
