Hiroki Kuroda’s pitching helps Los Angeles Dodgers defeat Colorado Rockies 8-2 - MLB Update

Los Angeles Dodgers’ starter, Hiroki Kuroda was outstanding with his pitching as he permitted four hits and two runs in his six inning pitches with an ERA of 2.88 and gave the Dodgers an 8-2 win against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, Colorado on August
19.
Dodgers started pretty well and scored one run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Aaron Miles drove a single-run shot towards left-field and Justin Sellers added the first run for Dodgers. In the second inning, the Dodgers’ batters extended their lead
2-0 by posting one run to their score-card.
Rod Barajas bunted a single-run drive to deep right-centre and Juan Rivera added a single run. Later on, Barajas moved to second base to end the second inning. Third inning was in favour of the batters as Dodgers smashed four quick runs to raise their lead
while the Rockies scored one run to cut their deficit 6-1, at the bottom of third inning.
James Loney hit a single-run shot towards centre-field and Miles posted one run. Rivera moved to third base in the mean time. Then, Barajas struck a three-run homer (384 feet) towards left-field while Rivera and Loney both added two collective runs for Dodgers.
On the other side, Jonathan Herrera contributed the first run for Rockies when Carlos Gonzalez singled off right-field and Chris Nelson occupied second base.
Kuroda struck-out five batters while permitting three walks and two earned runs on his 98 pitches. Speaking to reporters, Kuroda said, “I'm glad you didn't tell me that before the game. It's a little bit different (pitching with a lead) but having said that,
this is Coors Field.”
Tony Gwynn hit a solo homer (379 feet) towards right-field to give the Dodgers a 7-1 lead, at the top of fourth inning. The pitchers took hold in fifth inning and did not surrender any run. Rockies reduced their lead 7-2 by adding one run at the bottom of
sixth inning. Todd Helton was grounded out to third base but Gonzalez scored a single run and Troy Tulowitzki occupied second base to end the sixth inning.
During seventh inning, Dodgers raised their lead 8-2 when Matt Kemp singled off left-centre and Sellers contributed the last run. However, Dodgers led off the three-game series 1-0 after defeating the Rockies with a huge margin.
