Hiroshi Iwata takes the club-house lead at The Crowns Championship – Japan Golf Tour
Second round of The Crowns Championship, sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour commenced early morning today. This is a four-day tournament which continues to produce some excellent scores on the second day also.
It was the local lad, Hiroshi Iwata who played some promising golf during his round and managed to post a round of six-under par, 64. The youngster posted the lowest round for the second day and is the clubhouse leader after playing 36-holes.
Iwata continued his form during this second round also and looked brilliant with his crisp iron shots. He also was holding some of the crucial putts, which resulted in a great round of golf. The youngster was quite satisfied and pleased with the way he stroked the ball on the fast greens.
Iwata had a total of four birdies and an eagle on his scorecard. He did not make a single mistake in his round and was bogey free. He looked in excellent touch with his short game also as he made a few par saves. His only eagle came on the par-5, 2nd where his approach shot to the green was almost perfect. The ball landed just inside a few feet from the hole as he successfully made his eagle putt.
There was a great momentum in his swing and hopes to take advantage of this early lead after two rounds. He currently leads the field by a margin of just two strokes.
American Brendan Jones and Yuta Ikeda are currently two shots behind the clubhouse leader. They both are tied for the second spot on the score board and have a similar score of seven-under par after completing two rounds.
As for the American Jones, he looked in incredible shape on the front-nine as he made four birdies. It looked like he will continue his birdie streak on the back-nine, but he could not hold his putts. Jones managed to post a good score of four-under par, 66 and is two behind.
Ikeda showed some great golfing shots during his round. He had a total of six birdies and just a single bogey on his card. His only bogey was the result of three putts which he made on the par-4, 9th. Overall, he was quite satisfied with a score of five-under par, 65.
Second round of the championship still continues as quite a few notable players are yet to complete their rounds.
