Hiroshi Yasukawa joins Dorna as an advisor to Carmelo Ezpeleta - MotoGP
Motorsports veteran, Hiroshi Yasukawa, has now joined Dorna sports as an advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Carmelo Ezpeleta. Dorna holds right of the MotoGP World Championship.
Yasukawa has vast experience in the field of racing, which will significantly help to improve the premier class of motorcycle racing. He was previously appointed as the Director of Bridgestone Motorsports, where he spent a prominent section of his four decades
in motorsports. He played the role of the Director from 1997-2011, in which he viewed activities of the Japanese tyre manufacturer.
Yasukawa, while speaking about joining Dorna sports, said, "It's a great honour to continue my career in this fantastic environment thanks to Dorna. Our relationship was always great throughout the time that I was working with Bridgestone, and I think I
can help the continued development of the Championship.”
The Japanese said that MotoGP has a potential to grow over the edge and the sport will confront many new challenges, which will bring the World Championship to new horizons of thrill and passion for fans.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna sports shared some words on the occasion and said, "I'm very proud that we can now count on the experience of Hiroshi Yasukawa who has had close ties with the sport for many years. He is an important and respected man who can
bring a lot to the FIM MotoGP World Championship as we continue looking for ways to improve it.”
Ezpeleta was pleased with the addition of Yasukawa in Dorna sports and wants to avail from the veteran’s vast knowledge. The move will be beneficial for Dorna family, as they can work on further development right before the Portuguese event.
The season is coming alive in Estoril this weekend on May 1, with the bwin Grande Premio de Portugal. The postponement of the Japanese Grand Prix after the devastating tsunami hit the country, led to an unobvious long inter-event break in the season. The
Motegi Twin circuit was damaged after the disaster and needed severe restoration.
All MotoGP star riders are re-uniting for the event, as each team will be eyeing a victory. Some unfortunate riders, who had accidents in the past two rounds of the season, are now promising to be in shape for the race day. Alvaro Bautista of Rizla Suzuki
is back with high hopes to race in the third event of the season, after he had severe physiotherapy sessions.
Jorge Lorenzo, on the other hand is in pursuit to continue his victory streak at the Portuguese circuit, as he has three consecutive wins from the same number of pole position starts at the venue. He will also want to win his second race in the current season,
as he took the top position in the Spanish round.
