Hisbiscus will it grow in uk ?

I live in Hertfordshire and i have been given a hisbiscus want to keep it in the garden .Can I ?

  1. not tropical hibiscus especially since they need temps in the 80s to flower. cant experenice a freeze.

    you can grow temperate hibiscus though. these are perennial hibiscus cold tollerant to -30 c and over.

    some temperate hibiscus are the texas star, confederate rose, koppe king, and rose mallow

  3. Yes. Make sure you soak the pot for a few minutes before planting it out in an unexposed position.

  4. Best in a greenhouse, or a small conservatory. South of Watford, they will survive in a sheltered spot in the garden during summer.

  5. Yes I have an Hibiscus Stanley in an exposed position and its going great guns. I am in shropshire so I am further north than you.
