Hispania Racing Team confirm Narain Karthikeyan for 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team’s Narain Karthikeyan has recently confirmed that he is going to drive for the team at the inaugural 2011 Indian Grand Prix scheduled to take place in October.
Karthikeyan will take part in his home race despite the fact that he has been replaced by the team’s test driver Daniel Ricciardo in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
“It is great to have Narain back in the car as it will give him critical seat time before he drives at the Indian GP. He is the best driver to come out of the region and is undoubtedly extremely talented as he has proved through his progress this season,”
confirmed team principal Colin Kolles.
Ricciardo has been driving for the team since the past couple of races and that was quite disappointing for the Indian driver as he has a race driver contract with the team.
After a lot of controversy, this whole issue did not proceed further and since then, Karthikeyan urged his team to let him drive for his home race which is going to take place for the first time ever in the history of the sport.
Recently, Karthikeyan’s compatriot Karun Chandhok from Team Lotus also confirmed his drive for the Indian Grand Prix. It seems that the Indian crowd will finally get what they wanted and that is two Indian drivers on the grid at the same time on their own
soil.
“Of course it's a great feeling to be driving on a grand prix weekend once again, and on the subject of my home prand prix of India, the team had assured me that I'd be driving when I stepped out of my seat after the European GP,” said Karthikeyan.
Other than this, it has also been confirmed that Narain will also take part at the Friday practice sessions of the Singapore Grand Prix as well. This way, he will get more comfortable in the car before the Indian Grand Prix and might score his best possible
result with the team.
