Hispania Racing Team delays debut of the new F111 car – Formula 1 Update
Formula 1 Hispania Racing Team has recently informed the media that the team delayed their new F111 car debut to 11 March, 2011. HRT mentioned that its new car is in the final stage of assembly and that the team expects its debut during the Barcelona test
session.
HRT had already released their new car images in the ending days of February, but they did not make any official announcement about the car’s debut. Currently the team confirmed that the F111 will run for the first time during the Friday test session.
On the other hand, HRT is yet to confirm their second driver, as the team already named some drivers for 2011 Formula 1 season, including Vitantonio Liuzzi and Giorgio Mondini. Both drivers were already linked with the last remaining cockpit on this year’s
grid.
With regards to the Valencia test, the team took part in the session with their old car, so the team did not perform well, as HRT’s old package experienced massive problems.
HRT missed the Jerez test session following some personal issues, but they joined in the third pre-season test session in Barcelona. However, the drivers faced some more mechanical problems in their car, dropping the team’s position as a result.
As the final Barcelona test has been started on 8 March, the team did not join the first day of test because they are still waiting of good updates.
A day ago, reporters issued news about Liuzzi that he is the favourite to be confirmed for the up-coming season because he completed a successful last test session in Barcelona with his team-mate Narain Karthikeyan.
Liuzzi told the media, "There's no contract yet, but they need an experienced driver while I'm free after the Force India split, so the elements are all there."
The team appointed new staff members, including marketing boss Maria Serrat, and engineer Albert Fabrega, as the F111 has been designed by a group of engineers, supported by Geoff Willis.
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said ahead of veiled HRT car, "Twelve teams are too many, and I'd like to see ten, that's enough."
The first showing of the F111 car will remain under wraps until its debut in Barcelona test.
