Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo enthrals Indians in Red Bull car – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo gave the Indian Formula 1 fans a taste of what the sport is all about in a Red Bull car in New Delhi on Saturday, October 1, 2011.
Recently, McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton also did a similar demo run in his championship winning 2008 car in Bangalore on September 27.
These demonstration runs were planned ahead of the inaugural 2010 Indian Grand Prix as part of the publicity campaign to arouse interest amongst the public and attract maximum crowd to the event.
The demonstration run by Hamilton had attracted over 40,000 people making it a great hit with the Indians.
The demonstration run by the 22-year-old Australian driver turned out to a huge crowd-puller and was a major success as well. He mesmerised thousands of Indians in his Red Bull car as he drove along the streets of Delhi passing through the India gate.
“It was a proud moment for me to be the first F1 driver to race down the Rajpath,” Ricciardo said. “Today's drive was truly exhilarating especially with the legions of cheering fans who lined up the road. I've never seen anything like this before but I'm
sure that Red Bull has set millions of pulses racing as India waits for the lights to turn green at the grand prix later this month.”
Red Bull Racing visited India for the first time back in 2009, when its driver David Coulthard did a demonstration run on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai.
The Milton-Keynes based team is currently topping the constructors’ championship with 491 points. The team’s performance during the season has been very powerful and consistent. Its driver Sebastian Vettel, current Formula 1 reigning champion, has been a
favourite throughout the season with his astounding wins.
The 2011 Indian Grand Prix is schedule to take place on October 30 at the Buddh International circuit in the Uttar Pradesh area.
All the teams are very excited to take part in this race as this is the first ever race taking place in the Subcontinent region. The sponsors and organisers of this race have been engaged in preparations for this event for a long time now.
Amid high expectations and huge anticipation, let’s see how this race turns out to be.
