Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi nervous about Melbourne’s wet circuit
Formula 1 Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has updated the media that he is worried about the cloudy and rainy weather of Melbourne, as it was raining, one day before the first practice day of 2011, at the Albert Park circuit.
He said, “Getting some laps in the dry is vital and at the moment we only have a very vague idea about how the car will be.”
A few days ago, Liuzzi told the media supportive points are possible for HRT, if both drivers make the new F111 car reliable for the Australian Grand Prix.
Liuzzi said that each driver always has a chance, to run with full of his efforts and can put high scores, on the time-sheets, until the end of his race. Therefore, there is a chance for the HRT team as well and they can complete their quick runs over the
season races.
All Formula 1 teams are ready to struggle for their car reliability, but HRT are still looking that if the package does not run well in Melbourne then both drivers Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan start normal testing procedure for their upgraded chassis.
The Italian driver said that it is very important for him to understand how the car reacts and finish its initial race. He has believed that, as the new package have been installed with Cosworth engine and Williams’s gearbox, it will certainly minimise the
reliability issues during the race.
The team missed out on the final Barcelona test, as their new package has been delayed due to some technical problems. However, they are still not testing their new car.
Liuzzi admitted that he is not worried about his car reliability because in terms of reliability, the team showed really good performance, in 2010 season.
He went on to say, “We have to do tests that you would usually do when the car has its first miles, so in a way we are mixing a shakedown with a test. We have three hours on Friday to understand the reaction of everything - ride height, springs, dampers,
aero mapping and mechanical balance.”
He further added it is very important for team to understand the new features under the dry weather so that everything works in the right way. However, he said current weather conditions are not suitable for better testing which is why Liuzzi is nervous
about how he will learn his car setups.
On the other hand, Colin Kolles (HRT team boss) denied the rumours about car engineers quitting and informed the media that all the salaries of all the team members have been fully paid and that they are not in debt to suppliers.
