Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi terms Canadian GP ‘crazy’ – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has termed the recently held Canadian Grand Prix a ‘crazy’ affair for him.
Liuzzi brought his team to an impressive 13th position in Montreal, following a very poor start to the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The driver added that the Canadian race result was ‘great’ for the team. He is sure that he made his race progress in Montreal in the right direction. Liuzzi further added that he is quite happy with his performance in Canada. After a positive race, he believes
that now he can make improvements in the next races of the ongoing season.
The Italian driver continued that it was a great moment for him when he was overtaking the other strong teams during the closing laps of the Montreal race.
Both HRT drivers Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan were unable to perform well in the first six rounds of the ongoing season. However, the Canadian Grand Prix turned out to be quite well for them.
After the race, the 29-year-old driver admitted that the team’s pitstop strategy during the Montreal race weekend was in favour of them because of which everything went well.
Tonio discussed the car upgrades and mentioned that all the new improvements worked well during the Montreal race weekend.
Apart from that, the team boss Colin Kolles added that he enjoyed the Canadian race with a good performance by their drivers.
He went on to mention, “Today we achieved our best result in the history of Hispania Racing. It was a great race with a positive ending for the team. We made a step forward in terms of performance and in the championship position.”
Tonio’s teammate Karthikeyan took 17th place for the team after serving a drive through penalty for forcing Virgin’s Timo Glock off the track in the closing laps of the race.
After making a positive step in terms of performance in Canada, the team is hoping for more success in Valencia in two weeks’ time.
